Fair to ask friends to pay for pricy bridesmaid dresses?

Q: The bridesmaid dresses are really expensive, but I love them! Is it too much to ask my friends to pay for them?
A. You know your bridesmaids well enough to know whether or not they can afford the expense. If some can afford it while others can't, it might be smart to choose a different gown that fits in their price range. You can find hundreds of options on TheKnot.com. Or, you can mix it up and let the girls who want to wear the pricier dress do so, and the other girls can choose something similar. Even better, you can cover a portion of the dress cost as your gift to them for being in the wedding.
